Scavenger's Grave

Part 3 of 5 dragon commissions for AnthonyPanics on Twitter! Anthony provided me 5 unique descriptions of dragons in different biomes, and then from there I developed everything from concept art to full illustration. This creepy, hoarding glider was based on their following description: "Cloud Dragons who preserve things in ice from the mountains."

Originally, we discussed creating a thickset beast with multiple limbs inspired by tardigrades, which can survive in extreme environments. However, it soon proved to look rather zombie-like and didn't convey something that could fly high up in the clouds. Then, I took the design in a different direction and looked at microraptors for reference, which is how the current cloud dragon was born.
